Voyager - EP (2008)

Look at that album cover, really look at it...see those white lines?
Of course you do. What does that look like to you?
If you guessed Tentacles, well your completely fucking wrong, because my guess (the only one that matters) is that those white lines are symbolic to a majestic flowing beard.
Why a beard? Because beards are manly and so are voyagers.

Metal Archives lists these guys as: Doom/Atmospheric Sludge/Post-Rock

Post-Rock I guess in the sense that they don't use distortion pedals ALL the time, but expect to hear the same sludgy formula of der-NERR duh-NUH syle riffs. It's heavy, it's authentic, it's fuck you, download it.

Drudkh - Songs of Grief and Solitude (2010)

Here is a Drudkh album I bought on a whim in the summertime. The album is all instrumental and eclectic in sound, its quite nice actually. Throw this album on, light some incense, read a book, drink some tea, stare out your window, contemplate existence, these are all suitable things to do in the company of this album.

There really is nothing bombastic about this at all, it's really calm and soothing and can be enjoyed by anyone. You know when you walk into one of those strange eclectic shops that sell shit like goblin tongues in a jar and it kinda reeks of an everglade? That is where this album belongs, in a shop like that. Listen:

 Escape

You are waiting for a train. A train that will take you far, far away...

click to depart.

SpellBlast - Horns of Silence (2007)

I have always said, the cheesier the Power Metal, the better. Though, SpellBlast isn't the cheesiest of Power Metal bands, they still incorporate a good amount of cheese. With songs about goblins, unicorns, forests, Odin and of course magic, how can you fail. Well, you can't.

In short, Power Metal is a lot like Grill Cheese, the cheesier it is, the better! And apparently 68 people on youtube agree with me.

They throw in a lot of folkyness for good measure. Every time I listen to this album I want to punch a dragon in the face.

Malveillance - Just Fuck off (2006)

Raw, Punkened Black Metal (fuck you, that's what I am calling it) executed quite well. You really don't have to be covered in goat entrails, burn churches, kill band members, or wear corpse paint to play good Black Metal. (The aforementioned may help though.)

My point is, this guy from Quebec knows that, and it shows on this album. The only thing this album is guilty of is kicking your ass, ok maybe some songs seem to blur into the next, but fuck it, there isn't a whole lot to complain about here.

Just Fuck Off

Music

To some, music is just background noise, but to some others its much, much more than that. Music for me is everyday, all the time, everything else I do just goes well with it.
Fuck, I even am lucky enough to be doing artwork for some great bands as well as having worked alongside one of my favorite artists ever, Kris Verwimp. I don't do any of it for the money, fuck no, there is barely any money in it anyway. You do it for the love of music and the chance to contribute to some amazing bands.

I decided to create this shit hole of a blog with the intention of providing an easier way for music lovers alike to find bands and albums that I feel are great and deserve more attention. I provide pre-existing links for download under each album I post, but of course, if you like what you hear, buy the album and support these bands by going to shows.

At this blog, you will most likely find a very healthy variety of Metal, but there will surely be a share of non metal bands/albums posted on here as well. From time to time expect a rant about which pathetic humanoids I think should be disemboweled with a plastic spork.

Shit will be added daily, so keep an eye out and hopefully you will find something that appeals to you. I am not one to post shit within a select amount of sub genres, expect a lot of different shit, especially within the massive cesspool of Metal. (I'm confident you will find something eventually, unless your musical taste consists of radio friendly, auto-tuned garbage.)

Feel free to drop a comment, request an album, send a demo, or tell me to go fuck myself. Either way, this will continue on.

Neun Welten - Destrunken (2009)

Primarily Instrumental, this group from Germany paint a myriad of visuals with their latest release "Destrunken". The visuals conjure up dark, melancholic, nature-esque type imagery. Kinda sounds like a bunch of drunken ancient druids sat on some tree stumps in the woods and started jamming.

This makes for some great study, reading, tea drinking, contemplation, music. Fuck, its just good. Here let me show you:

Bad Religion - Suffer (1988)

Bad Religion, credited for being strongly involved in the revival of Punk Rock and being among one of the most influential Punk bands of that time. It was with "Suffer" that Bad Religion managed such a feat.

Greg Graffin (vocalist), is truly an amazing dude. He is nearing his fifties, has a Ph.D. in Zoology, teaches life science and paleontology at UCLA, is published in 2 printed books, received Harvard's Secular Society's "Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award in Cultural Humanism". Oh ya, and he sings for fucking Bad Religion.

His voice will melt in your ears.

Les Discrets - Septembre Et Ses Dernières Pensées (2010)

I remember I initially checked this album out because the undeniably cool album art, though I found something I didn't quite expect. I was initially a little bit disappointed with what I heard, as I was expecting something a bit heavier, and quite frankly, more metal. Though, through my experienced chagrin, I managed to find quite a bit of bright spots within the album.

There is something very daunting and cinematic about what you will hear. It's as though, the very world you live on is in question of its survival. (I dunno why the world is ending, but I sure hope its similar to "Cloverfield" and not over some political bullshit.)

It either floats your boat, or capsizes it:

The End is Nigh.

Blasphemophagher - ...for Chaos, Obscurity and Desolation... (2010)

There goes a saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover" which I am sure you are all familiar with. I am quite aware that this isn't a book, though the saying is still conducive to my point. If you were to judge this album by its cover, you would probably get what you expected.

If you expected an unholy onslaught, bible spitting, altar vomiting, Christians to the lions, type of album, you were correct. Here, allow me to show you:

'scuse me, I have the sudden urge to put on a satanic war robe, sacrifice a goat, and smear its blood on my face. Bleh, nevermind, I will leave that to the professionals.

Catharsis - Samsara (1997)

The album is called Samsara, and I am pretty sure the vocals are done by a pack of ravenous wolves. These surprisingly articulate wolves snarl their hate for God in just about every song, and that is awesome. "Good little wolves! Hey, stop gnawing on my arm!"

Example in song: Every Man For Himself... And God Against Them All

The wages of sin are freedom, and though the wages of freedom may be death
Is it not better to live with uncertainty than to fear to draw an honest breath?
So scrape the veil of faith from your eyes
Your prayers ascend like black smoke to the empty skies
Under your carnivorous god of deceit, maybe just maybe do you feel incomplete?

Ok, so maybe the vocals are done by a man. I am guilty of hyperbole quite often, and this will become increasingly apparent as you peruse this blog. (Which I ask myself, why do you waste your time here?)

In short, this album is blaspheming 90's Metalcore, so click the link below and download it.

Mmm...Sacrilicious

Azathoth - EP (2007)

Unfathomed voids of non-euclidean space & time has never sounded so bleak. A self-financed Symphonic Black Metal album with a healthy nod to Death Metal, paying homage to H.P. Lovecraft and Horror comes this well layered EP.

This EP is so good I went out and bought several. One will go into my mothers stocking, another I will leave in my mailbox for the postman, the other I will donate to Good Will and the remaining two will belong to myself. Afterall, tis the season!
* The above stated never actually happened. (I know what you're thinking, "you lied on Christmas!" That's ok though because fuck Jesus and his imaginary birthday.)
