Deiquisitor - Humanoid EP (2021)

•  †  •

Denmark's Deiquisitor dropped a 25 minute EP on us this year and it's a steep descent into the meat grinder abyss of pummelling death metal. Focused on the chunkier side of death metal, there's always a purveying, simplistic brutality to their sound—nothing particularly cacophonous, but meaty with a lot of weight behind its hooks and any semblance of space is squeezed out with Deiquisitor's deliberate assault.

Defeated Sanity - Passages Into Deformity (2013)

God fucking damn shit mother of fuck. Defeated Sanity once again have man-handled their way into everyone's ear holes, sodomizing your ear canals with their pulverizing brutallus death metal! The technical accuracy of a wizard surgeon from the future, heavier than the weight of a dead son, filthier than your grandmothers bathtub and more devastating than child rape appears Passages Into Deformity.

It walks that fine edge of disgusting slop and musical mastery, beating you senseless, taking your lunch money and buying a pack of menthol's and 40oz of Olde English to wash it down. Wormed, fellow label mates are going to be a contender with Exodromos out in March, and if their EP Quasineutrality is anything to go by prepare to be slammed into cosmic oblivion.

I want to keep my blog so I won't be posting a download link… Though those Pirate Bay dudes are scummy enough to, I think, probably.

Syphilic - Behind Bars (2010)

Take a good hard look at that album cover, click the picture to enlarge it and let it sink in. Yes, yes that is a pregnant legless woman riddled with bite marks having her newborn baby skull-fucked by a corpulent fellow in a wife-beater while the rest of her baby is still inside of her, essentially fucking her at the same time. Multitasking like a champion.

I'm sure it's quite obvious already that we have us some brutal death metal in our midst. To me, it doesn't offer anything groundbreaking or refreshing, but it is littered with samples from "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia". Everything is over the top gore and brutality, here is an excerpt from song "Robalni"

When she pushes out its head slides down
Forward I thrust back into her cunt
Further out, its brain now a messy joke
Umbilical cord wrapped around its throat
Newborns head completely out of the slit
I nail its tongue to its moms clit
Cord decapitation and its mangled head taken
The rest of the remnants I shove all the way back in

All I could think of (A Serbian Film)

It still gets a spin every now and then, I admit though, I grabbed it for the album art, not the musical prowess. Maybe you will like it...you sick fuck!

Fleshgod Apocalypse - Oracles (2009)

This is the juggernaut of brutal death metal. Implementing classical music in some of the songs is just fucking awesome, takes me back to the ballroom bar scene in "The Shining" Fuck yes! Though this isn't the coup de grâce by an means, the technicality and pummeling pace is. Spot on.

Vomit The Soul - Apostles of Inexpression

Despite the gnarly illustration, something about that album cover tells me I am not going to be impressed with what I hear. For some reason I think of generic deathcore cabbage patch kids slam whenever I look at that. What the fuck do I know afterall? I was completely wrong.

Vomit The Soul of Italy have created a sound that is repulsive and of course brutal. I'm sure if someone vomited out a soul, it would bear a resemblance in sound, I would hope so anyway. The production is spot on and every instrument can be heard quite clearly and this makes baby Jesus smile.

Benighted - Asylum Cave (2011)

Not exactly a feast for the brain, but Benighted remains to be among the elites in forward-thinking deathgrind. The intro initially had me second guessing if I was listening to the wrong album...I wasn't. I have only listened through this once though, so I am unable to give it my full praise, but from what I heard it was quite good. Everything you would expect from Benighted, and then some. I do recall raising an eyebrow or two though. More breakdowns then a...well, mental asylum. ZING!

"Why are you so brutal to me?"

Wormed - Quasineutrality (2010)

Brutal, a word so overused it really is a shame we couldn't hide it from the kiddos dawning New-Era hats with that shitty sticker on the brim. You know the type. The fact is, this is brutal. Really, it is.

It may only be a 2 song promo but it hasn't stopped Wormed from creating something entirely crushing and deserving of some praise. its been eight years since "Planisphaerium" but Wormed has returned to fuck your ear holes. Open Wide.
